CANARIE joins community of entrepreneurs and policy-makers working to strengthen Canada’s innovation ecosystem at Startup Canada Day on the Hill
CANARIE, a vital component of Canada’s digital infrastructure supporting research, education and innovation, announces its participation in Startup Canada Day on the Hill, which is occurring today at locations across downtown Ottawa. CANARIE supports innovation among Canadian entrepreneurs and small businesses through its Digital Accelerator for Innovation and Research (DAIR) program. DAIR leverages Canada’s investment in CANARIE and its research and education network to provide Canada’s entrepreneurs with access to free cloud based compute and storage resources to help them rev up product development and gain a competitive edge in the global market.
Startup Canada Day on the Hill manifests the momentum, impact and scale of the grassroots startup movement in Canada, advances discussion on the crucial role entrepreneurs play in the Canadian economy, and emphasizes the importance of partnerships between entrepreneurs, government and independent organizations in maximizing entrepreneurial success.
Peter Wilenius, CANARIE’s Vice President, Business Development, is participating on the Everyone Has a Role in Empowering Entrepreneurship panel, in which he will contribute to a discussion on how Canada can continue to create a healthy and streamlined entrepreneurship ecosystem that increases the capability of startups to grow.
An important contribution CANARIE makes to the ecosystem is the partnership model it has developed and already implemented with municipalities, business incubators and colleges engaged in applied research. The Powered by DAIR offering provides DAIR as a white label offering to extend or complement an organization’s existing services. In addition to co-branded resources, administrative and marketing support is provided by CANARIE to assist the partner in providing support to its clients. The Powered by DAIR model helps partners deliver greater value to its client base and obtain greater leverage for its investments in innovation incubation and acceleration services. For entrepreneurs, it provides a one stop shop for services and reduces the burden of navigating various support programs. The Powered by DAIR offering provides a free, made-in-Canada cloud solution with no hidden costs that is available to users for at least one year, allowing entrepreneurs to focus on innovation and growth. Entrepreneurs can also access DAIR resources quickly and easily through the CANARIE website here.
“CANARIE and Startup Canada have a shared vision of enabling collaboration and empowering entrepreneurship to evolve Canada’s digital economy,” says Peter Wilenius, Vice President, Business Development at CANARIE. “CANARIE believes in the power of physical networks to connect networks of entrepreneurs and partners in the innovation ecosystem to enable transformative growth.”
